Grape: Nebbiolo 95% - Barbera 5%
San Lorenzo is positioned in the famed Secondine cru and is composed of 95% nebbiolo and 5% barbera. The site is just shy of the village of Barbaresco. The vineyard was purchased in 1964 and is arguably the most famous site for Gaja. The wine takes on a Langhe DOC name, as, allegedly, the intent was to highlight Barbaresco not as a sideline to single vineyard wines, but an accompaniment that was being overlooked. The wine spends 12 months in barrique and 12 months in larger format wood.
